How to Fix Puckered Pictures

The mats around pictures in frames can bulge and pucker in humid weather, especially if the mat is fitted tightly inside the frame. To prevent this, cut the mat a little bit smaller all around than the inside of the frame. Make sure the mat is still big enough to stay inside the frame; if cut too small, the edges of the mat will show from the outside, or the whole mat can even fall out. If the mat is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch smaller than the frame all around, depending on the width of the frame, the mat will have room to expand.
